We are seeking an Industrial Electrician for a Direct-Hire position for our client, a leading manufacturer of abrasive blast media, foundry products, roofing materials and specialty aggregates. located in Riddle, Oregon. The Electrician will maintain and repair the operating equipment and facilities at all the clients locations.The purpose of the Electrician position is to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment throughout the facility to ensure that electrical systems are safe, reliable, and in compliance with codes and regulations.
As an Industrial Electrician, you will be responsible for:
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and determine a solution in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and repair or replace defective components as needed. This could include fixing malfunctioning equipment, replacing faulty wiring, or upgrading systems to improve performance.
• Knowledge and confidence to make the critical decisions whether equipment can stay running or to shut down for repairs.
• Ability to call equipment and parts by its proper name and clearly identify parts that need to be ordered.
• Ability to identify hazards on upcoming projects, inspect equipment and tools. (Slings, harness, chain falls, etc.).
• Is confident to STOP a job when a potential hazard has been identified.
• Use testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to test electrical systems and diagnose issues. Perform inspections to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Ability to fabricate and modify equipment in a neat and workmanlike manner.
• Follows and understands lockout tag out procedures. Able to identify the hazards of multi energy sources.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics to determine layout of electrical systems.
• Willing to work after hours or weekends to keep the plant running.
• Operate multiple pieces of equipment such as welders, cutting torches, hand tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, loaders and other miscellaneous equipment.
• Inspect, evaluate, and determine what parts are needed to repair equipment.
• Complete work orders in a timely manner.
• Understands the hazards of crane picks, has the knowledge to inspect second party equipment before a pick. Has the proper hand signal training.
• Other tasks and projects as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
• Good mechanical and electrical aptitude and satisfactory computer skills.
• Effective decision making skills and a demonstrated ability to use good judgment.
• Demonstrated positive attitude and positive approach to problems and problem solving.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
• Possess ability and understanding of general mathematics at a college level.
Education/ Experience
• School Diploma or Equivalent
• Understanding of electrical theory, principles, and codes/regulations (NEC). Familiarity with motor controls, and industrial automation is desirable as a journeyman electrician or equivalent
