Job Title: Mill Equipment Operator
Pay: $21.00/hour
Hours: Night Shift | 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM | Rotating 3/4 schedule

As a Mill Equipment Operator, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining product quality, optimizing equipment performance, and ensuring production efficiency. You'll collaborate closely with dryer operators, shift leads, and maintenance teams to uphold rigorous quality and safety standards.

What You’ll Do:

As a Mill Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for:
  • Operating and adjusting multiple pellet mills to consistently meet production targets.
  • Performing quality control testing on finished pellets, ensuring compliance with PFI standards through durability, fines, pellet diameter, soak tests, and ash tests.
  • Testing incoming raw materials and monitoring mix moisture content for optimal production.
  • Conducting roll changes on pellet mills using overhead hoists and proper safety protocols.
  • Monitoring pellet mill feed rates, making necessary adjustments to rolls or dies for peak performance.
  • Conducting routine inspections to identify equipment issues, such as hot bearings or potential malfunctions.
  • Assisting dryer operators in maintaining pellet moisture between 4.0–4.5%.
  • Accurately recording and communicating production and quality data.
  • Keeping a clean and safe work area by regularly clearing sawdust and debris around the mill room.
  • Climbing catwalks and ladders to inspect equipment and maintain quality processes.

What You’ll Bring:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Prior sit-down forklift experience with the ability to pass company forklift certification.
  • The capacity to lift up to 50 lbs safely and stand for up to 12 hours.
  • Comfort working at heights, including catwalks and ladders up to 30 feet.
  • The ability to thrive in high-temperature and high-humidity environments.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in basic math calculations.
  • A safety-focused, reliable, and team-oriented mindset.

Location & Schedule:
This position is on-site in Brownsville, OR, with a night shift schedule of 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM on a rotating 3/4 schedule.
